TRADE Technical Support
Student Assessment
Students may perform at different levels and progress at their
own pace, depending upon ability, achievement, and learning goals.
Upon entering the RBD workforce development program a
one-on-one assessment is performed. Technical Assistance Activity is
limited to adult participants enrolled in the workforce development
trainings that lead to licensure or certification that is directly related to
various businesses and trades, i.e. construction, HVAC, or other trades.
This “trades certification support (TCS)” is limited to the current or proposed
employees of identified existing or emerging rural small businesses that meet
eligibility requirements for the Rural Business Development Grant program.
Housing Rehab Specialist Certification Practicum
Course Overview
Participants will focus on plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, mold remediation, codes and standards, inspections, work write-up and drawing, cost estimating, heating and air conditions, structural, and
environmental. Upon completion of the program, participants will have earned a nationally-recognized construction
certificate, along with OSHA Certification and work experience, and be given the opportunity to find gainful employment, significantly improving their futures.
The Rehab Specialist Certification Practicum offers a 12-session technical assistance intervention, preparing individuals for successful certification testing. URC and Trainers Guild™ certified Rehab and Master Certification programs were developed by top of the industry consultants and experienced North Carolina rehab professionals. Trainings cover all sections of the North Carolina Building and Energy Codes, as well as Rehab Construction Management, Hazmat Mitigation, Inspections, Estimating and Building Science. URC trainings optimize business results, foster networking, update information that reinforce and energize a construction rehabilitation system for programs receiving federal and state funding.
North Carolina State University: REPV: Renewable Energy Generation With Photovoltaic Systems
Course Description
This is a 40-hour course offered by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Associate Registered Provider: NC Clean Energy Technology Center at ReBuild Communities Business Incubator. The course takes place over 5 days with 8 hours of instruction per day. The first four days are cumulative technical theory in a classroom format with the last day focusing on hands‐on learning through the design and installation of a fully integrated, grid‐tied, residential PV. This course is based on NABCEP’s PV Associate Job Task Analysis and qualifies participants to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate Credential Exam.
